Eyes are the window to the soul...

They are indeed...

It is a description attributed to Leonardo da Vinci:

"The eye is the window of the soul...
Now do you not see that the eye embraces the beauty of the whole world?
...It counsels and corrects all the arts of mankind...
It has measured the distances and sizes of the stars;
it has discovered the elements and their location..."

And I really like the fact that Catherine has captured an actual window reflected IN the eye...

Hi Brian, remember me from Andy's Animation?

After seeing your blog on this most specific of topics, I thought you might like to see a picture I drew about 5 years ago after lisening to the song 'Sad Lisa' by Cat Stevens. There's a lyric that goes "her eyes like windows, trickling rain," which inspired me to draw this.

In case my poorer drawing skills of a younger age don't convey it well, it's supposed to be the reflection of a window in a character's eye with rain trickling down it. The rain turns to tears as it reaches the character's lower eyelid, showing his sadness.

Hope you like it, and thanks for the comment you have been leaving on my blog...they are very much appreciated!

For some reason the link to Andy's picture doesn't work - a blogger bugger-up, I guess - but the link that WILL take you there is THIS ONE!

No, I don't think it's INTRUSIVE, Cafrine.

However, if it is at all disturbing - and it very probably IS - then that's because it's penetrating (unblinking) gaze is unrelentingly searching, questioning, knowing, challenging...
